Founder SJ began her journey of resilience in February 2017 when she discovered a lump in her right breast. Following a cancer diagnosis on 5/5/2017 Ductal (size 0.5) initial stage IIIA, pathologic stage IA, clinical stage IIIA; triple negative BC. At the age of 29, SJ endured six months of intense treatment, including chemo, radiation, and surgery, all while facing significant personal challenges with her family and support system. Despite the hardships and setbacks, SJ emerged victorious in November 2017 she underwent right breast mastectomy surgery. Early 2018 to be announced cancer-free. However, her battle did not end there, as she later faced congestive heart failure which caused SJ to slip into a coma and underwent a life-changing procedure to receive a left ventricular assist device (LVAD). 

 

 Turning her struggles into inspiration, SJ established SJ Lifestyle Brand LLC which 7yrs later now DBA SolePhuel Collections ™ with a mission to empower and uplift others facing similar health challenges. Through her brand, SJ connects with LVAD patients, survivors and peers; all while designing inspirational apparel. SJ is developing a functional and fashionable LVAD accessories (medial waist bag) to promote comfort and self-expression. In 2021, after relocating to California in pursuit of a heart transplant. Facing new health challenges, such as a stroke Dec of 2022, pneumonia with a chest infection July of 2024. Dealing with discrimination, housing discrepancies etc. adjusting to a new way of life caused extreme stress. 

 

SJ's LVAD continues to support her journey with resounding success. SJ has accomplished to be a part of Making Strides for Breast Cancer committee board; along with being their Voice of Hope. Oct of 2023 SJ was ft. In the LA Times with Nicole Blaine storytelling class for survivors / caregivers; participating in an 6week class.  Jan 2024 SJ has been working with PAUSE residency program to further strengthen SJ’s business network of awareness & Fashion meets Functionality. Developing skills to help the community.
